Over the years I have noticed and embraced a handful of extra special, proud mommy moments. These moments are ones that steal your heart, take your breath away and bring tears to your eyes. These moments are different from the ones when your baby takes their first step or says their first word. In my humble… Continue reading Proud Mommy Moment

Celebrating one more year of survival
So it happened. I am now 32 years of age. Another year down and many more to go. This year my birthday was celebrated a little bit different from most years because I was traveling for work on my birthday. I was up at 4am (which is way too early for this girl) to catch… Continue reading Celebrating one more year of survival
Loosening the Reins
Parenting and / or child rearing is tough. There is no right way, but lots of 'wrong' ways. There are a lot of opinions though! People always have a simple solution for what ever the current problem or obstacle is too. Even without fully understanding the situation or the dynamic of those involved. I'm sure… Continue reading Loosening the Reins
Snowed In
A weekend away is a wonderful thing. Especially when you are visiting a dear friend and her wonderful family. It is even better when you get well over a foot of snow and have a good excuse to stay put and catch up. Between coffee, wine and kids there was plenty of entertainment. Paint, science… Continue reading Snowed In
Gangsta
Late night texts. Pushin' product, Neighbors, friends and fam. Notes in shorthand. Parking lot drops. Stack of cash. Customers hiding their habit. Kid working the street, drumming up business. Watching the stash. Addicted. Maintaining inventory, Can't run low. Peddlin' round the clock. She be hustlin'. Street cred. Serious business, these Girl Scout Cookies.
She be Sellin’
Taylor is in her third year of Girl Scouts! This year she wanted to make a higher cookie goal and crush it. I love her determination. Day one we spent 2 hours going door to door in our neighborhood. Yes, that sounds like a lot - however - we only made it around the block… Continue reading She be Sellin’
It’s been a while…(long read)
I decided to take quite a few weeks off from blogging during the holiday season. It was one thing that I could take off my To Do List guilt free even though it is one of the few things I do for myself. I did miss writing and getting my thoughts 'down on paper' per… Continue reading It’s been a while…(long read)
Time Travel
I am not an idiot, but maybe I am... Sometimes I have a hard time keeping my time zones straight. The issue is that I work in the Central timezone, my boss and most of my team work in the Mountain timezone except for one that works in the Pacific time zone and for the… Continue reading Time Travel
Stirrin’ Up Some Trouble
Last Sunday was a day spent in the kitchen making memories. Taylor and I made multiple batches of cupcakes and frosting from scratch. We love cooking, baking and tasting everything we make! New recipes are our favorite way to connect. Plus when we bake we love to freeze some of our goodies for a lazy… Continue reading Stirrin’ Up Some Trouble
Livin’ in Color
My wonderful almost 9-year-old has A LOT of personality. She shows it through stories, art and dance. This year she has been wanting to show it through her hair. Earlier in the Spring she got one streak of a blue-ish teal and LOVED it. Pictured below. So when she asked to have rainbow hair we… Continue reading Livin’ in Color
Criminally Cute
The 8th Annual DeForest Public Safety Family Fun Night (quite a mouthful) was a fun learning experience for Taylor and a great mother-daughter night. The last few years we have missed this event due to dance and my illness. I am so glad we were able to make it this year. What a great event!… Continue reading Criminally Cute
Generation Z
There are many positives to the advances in technology. However, there are some experiences that I am sad my daughter will miss out on. I am sure many parents have felt this way with their children as well with each new generation. Here is my list: Memorizing phone numbers (more than just their own) Talking… Continue reading Generation Z
Camping with Cousins via Samsung Galaxy S7
This weekend kicked off with a bang! We ditched the normal routine and headed to a family style campground. This is one of our favorite ways to get away. This time we went with my brother-in-law, sister-in-law and their spunky four-year old. The girls caused plenty of trouble, as they should, with playing hide-n-seek, barbies,… Continue reading Camping with Cousins via Samsung Galaxy S7
Beach Day in a Boot
Even though I am stuck in a boot we took a day trip to Devil's Lake state park. On our way we decided to take the Merrimac Ferry. Taylor loved it (as usual), but Shiva was not quite as sure. She watched the water as if it couldnt be trusted the whole way across. Blue… Continue reading Beach Day in a Boot
Flyin High
So I have been an adrenaline junkie for most of my life. I love living on the edge - well, more so before I had a kid...now I try to find 'safe' thrills. This weekend Wisconsin Aviation had an event where you could see an old war plane, ride in a B-17 or ride in… Continue reading Flyin High
I love the rolls!!
I did my first 3 month old baby shoot this week. I am not only in love with this little guy (he belongs to one of my best friends), but in love with this age. So fun!! He was so pudgy and reminded me of my little girl at that age. Overall I am happy… Continue reading I love the rolls!!
Frustrated, but learning…
I have been working this year on photographing people. My friends and family are kind enough to let me give it a whirl. I am not sure if this will ever be a profession, but I love giving them this gift. About a week ago I did my first maternity / family portrait session. We… Continue reading Frustrated, but learning…
Budding Photographer
Recently I have begun to dabble in people...real live people...EEK!! They are terrifying. They move. They can't see what I am thinking. They have a finite amount of patience.
Where were you? – Photo Memories
On the rare occasion we do look through pictures Taylor always questions "Mommy, where were you?" I always reply, "Taking the picture my dear."
14 Girl Scouts & a Zoo
It was almost as if he was warning us to stay away; to not trust his captors and save us from danger. Or maybe he was angry for being in captivity and wanted one of the girls as a snack. I guess we will never know.
