From the moment my eyes open in the morning I crave the smell and rich warm taste of a fresh brewed cup of coffee. There is something comforting about a holding a warm fresh brewed mug and sipping the sweet elixir. I like to think of my coffee habit not as an addiction, but as a lifestyle.
A few weeks ago a good friend of mine got me a gift card to a local coffee-house, that I didn’t even know existed – Windsor Breads Cafe & Bakery (www.windsorbreads.com). I was instantly excited to try out a local shop. Upon pulling up I realize that I have driven by the coffee house countless times and not taken notice of it. Inside it is a cozy one room shop with 5 tables. The walls are lined with baked goods; everything from muffins, cookies, breads and cinnamon rolls to scones. The walls are covered in artwork from a local artist Richard C. Armstrong (www.richarmstrongphotography.com).
This family owned business is bustling in the morning and on the weekends. As I sit here, enjoying my brew of choice (Boneshaker from Stone Creek Coffee) there is a steady flow of people coming in and out for their morning fix. Windsor Breads also has a handful of tables and a bench out front to enjoy your brew in the sunshine.
For those that don’t drink coffee they also brew Harney & Sons tea. I personally love their Vanilla Comoro tea. It is a decaffeinated Black Tea with Vanilla. This is phenomenal with a splash of almond milk.
The breads and muffins are moist and lined up in a variety of flavors. After sampling many of them over the last month my absolute favorite is Triple Berry. This bread or muffin is soft and loaded with blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. All of their baked goods are made from scratch. The cinnamon rolls were a little dry for my liking and could have used more cinnamon, but the cream cheese frosting was fantastic.
This is a great place to come and enjoy a coffee and scone while you read or work with their free wi-fi. Or it is quick stop to grab some joe on the go. While you are here you will be greeted with smiles, see the whole family pitch in and be treated like you are one of the bunch. I highly recommend this local joint for supporting your caffeine habit and sweet tooth.
